MENACE II PROXIMITY
What you see is the martial looking chimney from the new Vattenfall power plant next to my office. And as it is standing right in the middle of that newly build quarter called Hafencity I would rather entitle it not »Menace II Society« but »Menace II Proximity« ...

SCIROCCO IS BACK
I couldn't resist to sneak in the local Volkswagen dealer in order to carefully inspect the new Scirocco III.
Well, this is the first Volkwagen which caught my true attention ever since the past ten years! If this vehicle is meant to compete against BMW's Model One or Volvo's C30 it's definitely supposed to be successful (as these cars in comparison look ridiculous just today)! Simply put some nice rims on, eventually get rid of all the chrome badges and you are done! Oh, I almost forgot – 30.000 + Euros in cash should be no problem whatsoever ;-)
For those who haven't got so much money but being interested still: http://www.carbodydesign.com/archive/2008/06/20-volkswagen-scirocco-new-images/
Have a nice Sunday ...

ABSTRACTION
Night lights from an office building, as seen from a bus in motion... and yes, the image has been rotated. Whatever, end of the day, this looks closer to The Matrix type-design introduction, than to what it really was.

EXHIBITIONS
No, not exhibitionism!, I said exhibitions. Today I've run into a bunch of them. Firstly on poster design from Peru. Great, quite witty, witty ideas (first image); secondly on street art and graffitti (last two images), within the clean white walls of a museum, quite unexpected, oder? ¡Saludos! http://centroculturalrecoleta.org/

»P IS STILL FREE« ...
... don't have the faintest clue why this picture reminds me of that old song by KRS One?
Actually it should remind us of the Speicherstadt, Hamburg's historic quarter next to the habour!
Hhhm – so I guess I am probably going to listen to some old-school Hip-Hop the next days, while thinking of moldy warehouses ;-)
Strange combination!

ON MY WAY
I've started a photography workshop today, my creative lifesaver to enjoy. I'll develop my own theme... what will it be... I have no idea, but it's out there, and within myself, so off I go.

TUFAN KEBAB ***** HAUTE CUISINE EN HAMBURG
Salut!
Found this picture in my archives – as I couldn't make one today!
Just returned from beautiful Prague (having caught a bad cold) and after another tough working Monday there will also be not too many words from Hamburg today!
Just will get an exquisite meal – even though it is not supposed to be as excellent as from Tufan Kebab ;-) and then drop dead to sleep!
Good night ...

SLIDESHOW TEST
Tonight I was trying to figure out how to embed slideshows to our blog!
Pasting a slideshow from flickr I found as one working option which even seems to be rather quick and convenient. Still there are problems in resizing the content properly – if you take a close look you can see there's a pixel too much at the bottom of the picture! What I also don't like is that the slideshow stops when running through once instead of running in a loop! Thirdly but most annoying to me is the fact that if you do a wrong click you are redirected to flickr and I'm afraid there is no way to disable this option whatsoever!
I think the only pretty way to have moving pictures is to embed flash files which should work also quite simple! Found a script for that somewhere on the internet but I'm too tired to try it right now ...
Please take the poll to say if we should work on it or not!?
Good night ...

ADVERTISING GRAFFITI
Yeah, they really did it – Converse tagged the whole Jungfernstieg train station!
Visiting http://www.converse.com/connectivity you will learn that the brand celebrates it's 100th anniversary – congratetulations!
No other than Sid Vicious, Nina Hagen, Thomas D. or Pharrell are supporting this beautiful campaign!
So just get out an old pair of chucks from your drawers and kick it!
INSPIRATION III
As I'm interested in it maybe you are too – at least little enough to check some inpirational stuff on automobile design, 3-D animation of prototypes, podcasts/videos about design processes etc. on this site:
INSPIRATION
I cannot not see it quite well from this part of the planet, but the London Design Festival may be another interesting source of inspiration, starting this coming 13th September. Even though I don't know anybody who's been there to assure you it is in fact inspiring... the London design-standard may be just enough.

I've been to AGIdeas in Melbourne, Australia, a long time ago, and it also was an "All things design" event, despite it's differences. Melbourne is well designed as Hamburg is, in terms of how "livable" it is as a city, yet sunnier.
http://www.agideas.net/
Argentina has develloped some great design events too, though I could not attend many of them. Honestly, there's good and bad stuff anywhere, as far as I've seen. We all can design both. And "bad" design is so useful sometimes, it should be . I did have the chance however to attend on 2001 the outstanding "TipográficaBuenosAires", on type and design: we were able to chat personally with the lecturers within brakes. Interaction, real people, that makes a difference.
